Evolution and filming [edit]

The Astonishing Race 10 spanned 40,000 miles (64,000 km) and covered 4 continents and 13 countries, the most countries visited in a season. Amid them, six were previously unvisited by the serial, including Mongolia, Kuwait, Mauritius, Madagascar, Republic of finland, and Ukraine. None of those countries take been revisited past the serial. It was likewise the showtime season to (nearly) circumnavigate the world in a by and large westward fashion, crossing the Pacific Ocean in the commencement leg and crossing the Atlantic on the final leg. Most other seasons transversed the globe in a generally eastward direction.

The Astonishing Race 10 saw the show's get-go double elimination when in 1 leg, two teams were eliminated: one halfway through the leg, and the other at the end. It as well introduced a new obstacle, the Intersection, which involved having two teams work together until otherwise instructed. If no other team was available when one team read the Intersection clue, they were required to await for another team to make it earlier proceeding together. The Intersection was also shown in conjunction with a Fast Forrad assuasive both teams from the first pair to complete the task to receive the benefit of the award. This season also saw the render of Roadblock at the first leg since Season 1 (although the Roadblock in the starting time leg of Season 1 went unaired).

Additionally, the penalty for coming in last on a not-emptying leg was changed. Instead of being stripped of money and possessions, the last identify team was "Marked for Elimination". This had a issue for the following leg, where the marked team suffered a xxx-minute penalization at the Pit Terminate unless they were first to check-in, peradventure assuasive other teams to overtake them in the concluding placings for that leg.

During the Vietnam legs, all road markers were colored yellow and white rather than red and xanthous (based on the original road markers in Flavor 1), so equally to avert defoliation with the flag of the former independent country of South Vietnam (although the testify would later apply the regular markers in Vietnam as of Flavor 22). The 2d Vietnamese leg was too the starting time time in the series in which teams received money in local currency.

During the Ukraine leg, host Phil Keoghan was detained at the airport for traveling to the state with a New Zealand passport without a Ukrainian visa, which he had been informed prior to filming wasn't needed. He was released the adjacent twenty-four hours after a worker from the American embassy processed a visa for him. After being released, Keoghan arrived at the Pit Stop ten minutes before the lead team arrived.[ii]

Episode 4 was selected past CBS for consideration in the 2007 Emmy Awards,[3] and garnered five full nominations, including one for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program. The episode won for Outstanding Reality-Competition, the testify's fifth sequent win in that category, having won since the category was starting time awarded in 2003.

To date, this is the last Astonishing Race season that did not either start or stop in the country of California.
